Changes To Argyle Pink Diamond Certification

With a New Year brings some changes to the way Argyle have decided to certify their pink diamonds. In the past, only Argyle Pink Diamonds over 0.15 ct in weight received an individual certificate. So diamonds that weigh between 0.08 – 0.14 ct previously would be purchased in Parcels which came with individual Lot Numbers. Now Argyle have decided to individually Certify all Pink Diamonds with a weight 0.08 ct and upwards.

There are a couple of things to take out of this change.

  1. Argyle realise the strength of the brand and the value of the Certification. The value of a certified diamond is higher than the value of a non certified diamond therefore they are increasing the number and value of certified diamonds in the market place.
  2.  The price and demand for pink diamonds are ever increasing. In the past the prices may have been too high to purchase a 0.15 ct pink diamond for a lot of people where as a 0.10 ct pink Diamond may be affordable.

It will be interesting to see what affect this has on the prices of these smaller pink diamonds – personally I cannot see them going anywhere but up, following the same trend for the last 20 years or so.
