Jewellery Care
Some people think because diamonds are the hardest material in the world you cannot damage them – this is untrue. It is essential to protect the diamond and jewellery from sharp blows. As it is possible to chip a diamond, do not wear your diamonds when you are doing any rough work such as gardening or even washing dishes.
Another It is also important to avoid harsh chemicals such as chlorine bleaches which can severely damage and discolour diamond jewellery as well as loosen stones and settings.
The only thing that can break a diamond is another diamond so if you are not wearing your diamond jewellery be sure to wrap each piece individually so they don’t come into contact with one another.
Regular cleaning is essential to keep the sparkle in your diamonds and there are two easy methods you can try at home:
1 Detergent bath – prepare a small bowl of warm suds with any kind of mild liquid detergent. Brush the jewellery with a small soft brush creating lather. Place the piece on a wire strainer and rinse with warm water. Finally pat dry with a soft lint free cloth.
2 Cold Water Soak – Mix a small bowl of solution with 5 parts water to 1 part household ammonia. Soak the item for several minutes, lift the item out of the solution and tap gently around the item with a small brush. Rinse the item in solution again and drain on a piece of tissue paper
